Prison Architect How Do I Feed Staff
Staff members are an
imperativetype of entity that must be hired in order for your prison to function correctly.
There are many different types of staff members that can be hired - all of which provide a specific function for your prison's daily operation.
Staff member types can be categorised into five different groups, which are defined below.
TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
Administrator | Fundamental figure heads of a certain department of your prison, e.g. security, maintenance, that conduct multiple forms of research, from an office, to unlock new features for your prison. |
Security | Staff members responsible for the maintenance of social order and peacekeeping. |
Maintenance | Staff members responsible for the construction and maintenance of a well-structured, aesthetically pleasing prison facility. |
Utility | Staff members with specific skill-sets that provide a unique service for your prison's population. |
External | Uniquely skilled staff members that cannot be hired into your prison, but are externally employed and arrive at your prison from the outside world. |
Emergency | Trained and uniquely skilled staff members that can be instantly called-in, in the event of a prison emergency. |
Administrators

| Warden | The senior administrator and grand overseer of your prison. Required before you can research and hire advanced staff members. |
| Chief | The head of prison security who provides the danger level report and gives access to surveillance, covert intelligence, deployment and various other security-related features. |
| Foreman | Presides over general maintenance of the prison, and manages prison labour. Grants access to grounds keeping, cleaning and prison labour mostly. |
| Accountant | Manages prison finances, grants, contracts and deeds. Provides the finances report. |
| Psychologist | An advanced staff member who has expertise in prisoner psychology and rehabilitation. |
| Lawyer | An advanced staff member who presides over the legalities of running a prison, and allows the possibility of housing death row inmates. |
Security

| Guards | Undeniably the most important security staff member responsible for a broad list of duties - mainly the policing of prison inmates. |
| Armed Guards | A potentially deadly security staff member armed with a shotgun, capable of suppressing the most dangerous prisoners and keeping inmates in line. |
| Dog Handlers | Skilled security staff members who are accompanied by a canine companion. Imperative in preventing prisoner escapes and the smuggling of scented contraband. |
Snipers | Expertly trained, deadly marksmen armed with sniper rifles who keep a watchful eye over large areas of your facility. |
Maintenance

| Workman | Imperative construction workers that are required for the creation and general maintenance of any facility. Responsible for a wide list of housekeeping duties. |
Janitors | Staff members required to maintain a clean internal environment. Also responsible for prison laundry services. | |
| Gardeners | Staff members required to maintain a tidy external environment and general grounds-keeping. |
Utility
